In Tampa, where sun-filled rooms and coastal breezes define the way we live, tile has become more than just a flooring staple — it’s a key element in creating beautiful, functional interiors. At Mike’s Flooring, we’re watching exciting tile trends shape the way Tampa homeowners are styling their spaces.
Here are the latest tile looks taking over Tampa Bay homes.
Large-Format Tiles for Seamless Spaces
Open floor plans dominate Tampa’s newer homes, and large-format tiles are the perfect complement. These oversized tiles reduce grout lines and give floors a sleek, expansive look that makes any room feel larger and more modern.
We’ve helped homeowners in places like South Tampa and Westchase create stunning great rooms with large-format porcelain tiles that mimic natural stone or concrete.
Coastal-Inspired Hues
From sandy beige to ocean blue, Tampa’s natural surroundings are inspiring tile choices. Soft, beachy palettes are being used in everything from bathrooms to outdoor patios. Subway tiles in sea glass hues and wood-look porcelain planks in driftwood tones are top sellers at Mike’s Flooring.
Textured Finishes
Tampa homeowners are loving the tactile appeal of textured tiles. Matte and hand-scraped finishes add depth and character to living spaces, while anti-slip options are popular for outdoor areas and bathrooms.
We’re seeing more customers choose textured stone-look tiles for entryways and walkways to blend functionality with coastal elegance.
Bold Patterns and Statement Floors
From Mediterranean mosaics to modern geometric designs, patterned tiles are turning Tampa bathrooms and kitchens into works of art. Bold patterned floors are making waves in historic neighborhoods like Seminole Heights, where homeowners are adding personality to vintage spaces with encaustic tiles.
Even in contemporary homes, we’re seeing Tampa designers mix and match tiles to create one-of-a-kind backsplashes and feature walls.
Indoor-Outdoor Living
With Florida’s year-round outdoor lifestyle, extending tile onto patios and lanais is a trend that continues to grow. Durable, weather-resistant tiles help Tampa homeowners create seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces, perfect for entertaining under the sun.
